    Dear Friends:
You are receiving this message because you have indicated your support for the New York State Principals' Open Letter Regarding the NYS APPR Legislation (http://www.newyorkprincipals.org/). As always, we thank you for your support and remind you that this era of "reform" is far from over. We encourage you to remain informed and share this information with your colleagues, supervisors and friends.
As of the beginning of this new school year, over 1512 New York State principals have signed the letter: that's over one-third of all principals in NYS! We have nearly 7200 total supporters right now. Be sure to check out our website for the most current information. The most recent version of the APPR Position paper (with all signatures) is available at: http://www.newyorkprincipals.org/appr-paper.
    Please Consider the Following Steps:
    1) NY Education Reform Commission Meets on Thursday
The New York Education Reform Commission will be meeting on Long Island this Thursday, 11 October at SUNY Old Westbury from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. After getting shut out of the July meeting of the commission, Carol has been assured that she will have an opportunity to speak on Thursday. Parents who are available to attend the meeting are encouraged to show their support for our efforts!
    2) Write a Letter to President Obama
The Campaign for Our Public Schools is a movement to write letters to President Obama. Supported and coordinated by Diane Ravitch and Anthony Cody (an experienced science teacher), the goal is to organize thousands of letters into one massive letter that is delivered to the president on 18 October. Please participate in this endeavor! To find out more, follow this link to Diane's blog entry: http://wp.me/p2odLa-2oV
    3) What Happened in Saratoga?!
Without a doubt, many things happen in this terrific New York State county each and every day. On October 2nd and 3rd, however, something happened that convinced 45 supporters in this county to put their names to our APPR Position Paper and voice their support. Thank you to our newest supporters in the Ballston Spa CSD, the Corinth CSD, the Gloversville City SD and the Schuylerville CSD!
    4) Accountability in the Age of Pearson
On 30 October at 6:00 pm, Sean will be giving the Finkelstein Memorial Lecture at Adelphi University. Please join us at this free lecture as he advocates for real and valid accountability in this age of standardized testing. For more information, visit the lecture website at: http://goo.gl/NlqVj
    Have a terrific week!

    Sean and Carol
