NEW YORK PRINCIPALS UPDATE
Thanks for your Support!
You are receiving this message because you have supported the New York State Principals' Open Letter regarding the APPR Legislation.
As always, we thank you for your support and remind you that this era of "reform" is far from over. We encourage you to remain informed and share this information with your colleagues, supervisors and friends.
Change the Stakes!
Change the Stakes is a wonderful organization that has been working tirelessly to educate parents and professionals about the dangers of excessive high stakes testing. You can learn more about their activities through their website.
Recently, Change the Stakes has identified the 559 New York State schools identified to give stand-alone field tests next week — yes...more field tests! Members are busy reaching out to the 169 NYC schools in order to inform the parents association about the destructive aspects of excessive testing.
Stand-along field testing begins on Tuesday, 23 October. Parents need to know that their children do not need to participate in these tests. Please consider supporting the efforts of Change the Stakes.
Thanks for all your support!

NY Education Reform Commission
Carol's testimony at the Education Reform Commission was nothing short of inspiring. In three minutes, she encapsulated so much of what is wrong with the present reform movement. You can read her statement through this link.
Nikhil Goyal also gave very impressive testimony at this hearing. A senior at Syosset High School, Nikhil's letter to the New York Times became a Sunday Dialogue event!
October 30th Presentation
Sean will be giving the Adelphi University Finkelstein Memorial Lecture on October 30th at 6:00 pm. Please join us as Sean presents: "Accountability in the Age of Pearson: Advocating for what Works in Schools." School Boards take a Stand
Across New York State, parent organizations and school boards are beginning to take a stand against the destructive "reforms" coming from our State Education Department. Read about a resolution being discussed by the Springville-Griffith School Boardthrough this link.
